9999 (1000410S) INTENSIVE READING (GREAT SOURCE 9TH GRADE)
+ Grade Level: 9 Credit 1.0
+ Prerequisite: FCAT score level 1 or 2.
+ Note: Elective credit only. Students placed by guidance/ reading department.
This course is recommended for students who must develop basic reading skills/strategies. Instruction will be provided using the Great Source program. This course provides readers at the 7th or 8th grade reading level a chance to accelerate reading skills by focusing on comprehension, writing, and critical thinking skills.

Emphasis is placed on mastery of decoding skills, comprehension skills and fluency.

This course is a two-year program for students who need the basic foundations of reading. This course provides low level readers with opportunities to learn to read in an accelerated format. The program emphasizes phonics, blending, fluency, and comprehension.
